Writing systems
The graphic system used for writing down Silesian German dialects was based on the Latin alphabet with visible influences from the Standard German language, e.g. in the way ablaut could have been written – Mädla (Mädchen – girl). Additionally, long vowels are written by doubling the vowel sign, e.g. Heem (Heim - house) or by the so called circumflex (a diacritic denoting a long vowel) as in, for example, < î >.
