Media

A number of Romani magazines are published in Poland.

• Rom P-O Drom – a monthly published between 1990 and 2011 by the Central Roma Council in Białystok.
• Dialog - Pheniben – a quarterly published since the year 1995 (with breaks) by the Roma People Association in Poland based in Oświęcim/Auschwitz.
• Romano Atmo – a bimonthly published since 2006 by the Polish Roma Union based in Szczecinek.
• Kwartalnik Romski  – published since 2010 by the Roma Association in Radom "Romano Waśt".

Furthermore, as of 2008 the Tarnów District Museum publishes a yearly Studia Romologica journal - the only scientific journal in Poland that entirely deals with Roma studies.

Religious education

The Roma people in Poland are predominantly Catholic. The National Roma Chaplain, father Stanisław Opocki, organizes special Roma pilgrimages once a year to two sites: Rywałd Królewski and Limanowa.

Current state of knowledge

Dictionary

In 1953 the book Cyganie Polscy (The Polish Gypsies) by Jerzy Ficowski was published. At its end the author included a number of commentaries concerning the Romani language, a brief grammar and a small Polish-Romani dictionary. He continued to correct and expand this dictionary in later editions of his book which was renamed as Cyganie na polskich drogach (The Gypsies on the Polish tracts).
In 2008 Romskie Stowarzyszenie Oświatowe (The Roma Educational Association) "Harangos" published its Rozmówki romskie - romane wakeribena (the Roma phrasebook), a work by Izabela Jaśkowiak and Paweł Lechowski. In the same year the book by Miklosz Deki Czureja, a well-known violinist,  Rozmówki polsko - romskie w dialekcie Cyganów Górskich - Bergitka Roma (Polish-Romani phrase in the Highlander Gypsy/Bergitka Roma dialect) appeared under the imprint of the "Bahtałe Roma - Szczęśliwi Cyganie" Foundation (Happy Gypsies). In 2009 the Tarnów District Museum and the Romskie Stowarzyszenie Oświatowe "Harangos" co-published the Słownik romsko - polski (Romani-Polish dictionary) compiled by Jan Mirga, a Roma poet from Czarna Góra. Apart from defining Romani words, the dictionary also provides examples of their use in sentences and, also, includes a short chapter on grammar.

Organizations

There are over 90 Roma organizations in Poland which include both associations and foundations. Two of their representatives (Roman Chojnicki and Robert Bladycz) sit in the Joint Commission of the Government and National and Ethnic Minorities and its branch, Team of Roma Affairs.
In 2004 the Programme for the Roma Community in Poland has been launched (with its pilot version functioning in the Lesser Poland region (voivodship) from 2001 to 2003).
