Standardisation

So far, there has been no attempt at standardising any of the Bielsko-Biała language varieties. Obviously every person who write had to decide on some kind of spelling system. While this may be true, no person claimed any right for his spelling system to be the universal one. Even Florian Biesik who aspired to be the father of Wymysorys literature did not attempt to devise a standardised spelling system for the language. Rather, he wanted:
every Wilamowicean person to able to skim through the system and be able to read it fluently within 5 minutes.
It is worth to consider that in recent publications (Andarson 2010Andrason 2010 / komentarz/comment /

Dictionaries

The only existing dictionary of the Bielsko-Biała dialect is the Idiotikon. It contains a list of words which appear in the poems collected in the volume: Gedichte in der Mundart der deutschen schlesisch-galizischen Gränzbewohner resp. von Bielitz-Biała. The dictionary can be found in the annex to this article.
In the case of Wymysorys, there are more than just one dictionary. The first dictionary, Słowniczek wyrazów gwary wilamowickiej, was written by Józef Latosiński and is a part of his Monografia miasteczka Wilamowice (1909: 282-319Latosiński 1909 / komentarz/comment /

). The most comprehensive work so far regarding lexicography is the two volume, German-language dicitonary Wörterbuch der deutschen Mundart von Wilamowice, of Herman Mojmir (1930-1936Mojmir 1930-1936 / komentarz/comment /

). Despite its great scholarly value the work is very difficult to obtain. The more important, thus, is the dictionary of Józef Gara, the poet, teacher and author of one of Wymysorys orthographies (2004Gara 2004 / komentarz/comment /

). The words he included were translated into Polish, English and German. Currently, another dictionary is being compiled by Tymoteusz Król and Alexander Andrason.
