Spelling

The Lemko language uses the Modern Cyrillic script – the so-called ‘grażdanka’. The alphabet used by Lemkos consists of 34 liter (Fontański 2004: 222-223Fontański 2004 / komentarz/comment/r /

). An important element which distinguishes Lemko from Ukrainian is the presence of the letter ы and lack of the letter ï. Another important feature of the Lemko script, different from other Rusyn languages (Prešov, Transcarpathian and Vojvodinian) is the lack of the letter ё.
